The spread matters more than the median. A municipal range in a small market and a tech-equipped facility in a major metro are both "a driving range," and they can be $3 and $30 for the same small bucket.

53 ranges in the directory price by the bay-hour instead of the bucket — mostly Toptracer and other tracked-bay facilities, where a booked hour includes unlimited balls. Those rates are deliberately excluded from every median on this page: mixing an hourly bay rate into a bucket average would inflate the number and answer a different question.

How much does a bucket of range balls cost?
Across 395 US driving ranges with source-verified pricing, the median small bucket is $8 and the median large bucket is $16. Small buckets run from $3 at municipal ranges up to $30 at premium and tech-equipped facilities.
Is a large bucket better value than a small one?
Almost always. The median small bucket works out to about 22¢ per ball, while a large bucket is around 15¢ — roughly 32% cheaper per ball. The catch is whether you can hit that many balls with focus; a rushed large bucket is worse practice than a deliberate small one.
How much does an hour at a driving range cost?
Some ranges — particularly Toptracer and other tech-equipped bays — sell time instead of buckets, typically renting a bay by the hour with unlimited balls. We track 53 ranges on this model. Those rates are excluded from the bucket medians on this page, because an hourly bay and a bucket of balls are different products.
Why are Toptracer ranges more expensive?
Toptracer bays bundle ball-tracking technology, screens, and usually unlimited balls for a booked period, so they price like an experience rather than a bucket. If you just want reps, a traditional bucket at the same facility is often far cheaper — where a range offers both, the listing shows what we verified.
Are driving ranges cheaper at certain times?
Many ranges price a bucket the same all day, but tech-equipped venues frequently use peak and off-peak bay rates, with weekday mornings cheapest and weekend evenings the most expensive. Where a range publishes a split rate, the verified price on its listing notes which one it is.
